Chiefs Top The NFL In Rushing

facebooktwitterreddit

We all knew that the 2010 Kansas City Chiefs had a chance to be one of the best rushing teams in the league.

Now, after 3 games (and 3 wins…BOOYAH!) they are.

The Chiefs are currently 1st in the NFL in running the football, according to ESPN.com. Todd Haley’s crew is averaging 160.7 yards per game on the ground.

Led by clock eater and all around locker room leader Thomas Jones the Chiefs are able straight at opposing defenses for the tough yards. While Jones doesn’t have a particularly high yards per carry average, he gets the tough yard between the tackles and he moves the chains.

More after the jump.

When the Chiefs aren’t pounding the ball with Jones, they are outrunning the opposition with Jamaal Charles. The Texas product has 34 carries for 238 yards and a touchdown. Charles is averaging a staggering 7.0 yards per carry. He is currently on pace to average over 1200 yards while only receiving 11.3 carries per game. If that weren’t enough, Charles has also added 5 receptions for 92 yards.

Through three games at least, the Chiefs are proving that you can still run the ball and win in the NFL.
