Chiefs Looking At Nose Tackle

I’ve been saying for a while now that I think there is a chance the Chiefs starting nose tackle isn’t on the

roster yet. Now we know they are shopping for one.

That National Football Post is reporting that the Chiefs are interested in veteran NT Kendrick Clancy.

Clancy is 31 years old and was drafted in the 3rd round by the Steelers. He never played much in Pittsburgh but saw a lot of action with the Giants, Cardinals and Saints. In 2008 with New Orleans, Clancy had 34 tackles, 3 passes defensed and 2 sacks. He stands at 6-1, 305 pounds.

The veteran is coming off a knee injury that limited him to only 2 games in 2009. His knee is reportedly healed and he is drawing interest from the Chiefs, Texans and Saints.

While Clancy might not be a pro bowl caliber DT, the Chiefs could certainly uses him. He could arguably push for the starting NT spot with the Chiefs and at the very least, would provide much needed depth and experience at a position that is lacking both.

We’ll be keeping an eye on this situation.
