OTA Report: The Cassel Is Strong

facebooktwitterreddit

We told you earlier that Kent Babb of the Kansas City Star tweeted that Matt Cassel looked very crisp in practice today.

Well, now Josh Looney is reporting the same thing over at http://www.kcchiefs.com/news/article-2/Insider-Blog-Cassels-Crisp/5eaa084f-0711-4929-babb-87f18283d971

Looney reports that Cassel looked nearly flawless today, connecting with all of his receivers with accuracy. In particular, Cassel appears to be developing a strong relationship with WR Jereme Urban.

"QB Matt Cassel was the story of the day at OTA #9. His throws were crisp, on point and he just looked to have a grove going. At one point in Red Zone seven-on-seven work, Cassel connected on three straight TDs and he looked to have a great relationship with Jerheme Urban throughout the day"

Other notes:

*DJ and Belcher are still running with the first team. Again, it is only June but still…

*Urban had a rough time early but according to Looney, he is coming on strong. He has been making plays over the middle and in the red zone.

*QB Brodie Croyle still has an injured finger and has been a limited practice participant this week. In his absence, QB Tyler Palko has been seeing some snaps with the 2nd team. Matt Gutierrez had better watch his back.

*There was no change in the rehab zone. Charles, Lawrence, Long, Moeaki, Charles, Cottam and Grimes remain in “No Man’s Land.”

This was the last practice for the week. The Chiefs will have the weekend off and will resume OTA’s on Monday. The end of next week will see the Mandatory Mini Camp kick off.

We’ll have more later after Bob Gretz posts his report.
