I have to say, Addicts, I don’t get it. The Browns signed Jake Delhomme who has done nothing but suck since the 2008 playoffs. The Broncos trade the Browns for Quinn, who has done nothing but suck since he came into the league. The Broncos, in turn, gave Peyton Hillis to the Browns. Hillis looked like a budding star in 2008 under Mike Shannahan but Josh McDaniels hardly ever gave him the ball to in 2009. The Donkeys also gave up a 2011 sixth-round draft pick and a conditional 2012 draft pick to Cleveland.
As far as I am concerned, Cleveland came out ahead here. In my opinion Hillis is a more valuable player than Quinn. Quinn has potential but I have actually seen Hillis succeed in the NFL. I am not sure I have ever seen Quinn throw a pass longer than 10 yards.
My question is what does this all mean? Are the Donkey’s going to go with Orton or Quinn as their starter? Orton played pretty well for them last year but are the Broncos giving up 2 picks (albeit late ones) and a player for a backup QB? Is Cleveland rolling with Jake Delhomme next year? What will Kyle Orton’s neck beard think about all this?
What do you think, Addicts? Will Quinn be the starter next year in Denver? Can he flourish under McDaniels? Will Charlie Weis be able to tell Romeo Crennel how to rattle Quinn? So many changes! You have to love the NFL offseason.
