Should the Chiefs Go After Dansby?

It was bound to come up sooner or later. Haley coached in Arizona. Dansby plays in Arizona. The Chiefs need a MLB for their 3-4 defense. Dansby is a MLB in a 3-4 defense. The Chiefs wear red uniforms. The Cardinals wear red uniforms.

It all fits. The Chiefs should sign Dansby!

Or should they?

These are the questions we are going to be asking around here as we inch closer and closer to the draft. The Chiefs simply will not be able to fill all their holes in the draft. They are most certainly going to be active in free agency. What we don’t know is just how active they will be.

Signing lesser known, value players is smart. You can usually get them at a bargain price and your risk is low. But would it kill the chiefs to spend big on just one FA? Couldn’t they afford to get one imapact player on the defensive side of the ball?

Dansby could be that guy. If Romeo Crennel can figure out how to use Derrick Johnson and Scott Pioli signs Dansby, the Chiefs have the potential to be fairly formidable over the middle.

All signs point to Dansby being very expensive and the Chiefs need to decide if the 28 year old would be worth the investment.

I am of the opinion that the Chiefs need to sign at least one impact free agent. I don’t care about name so much as I do about talent. A guy like TO isn’t going to be able to help the Chiefs but guys like Dansby or Peppers can. Jamaal Charles showed us that a play-maker can make all the other players around him better. The Chiefs don’t really have a play-maker on defense.

Do you think Dansby would be worth the investment?
