ESPN’s John Clayton Fails The Chiefs

I’ve always rather liked John Clayton but I think he is being a little hard here. I am not saying Haley and Co. did a perfect job but they did increase last years win total by 2 games, identified a major offensive weapon in Jamaal Charles and installed their system and new defensive scheme. This may be the second year of a rebuild from Clayton’s perspective but it is really year one in a franchise overhaul. I’d give the Chiefs a D+ for this season. Maybe even a C-. There are some decent building blocks here.
"Kansas City Chiefs: GRADE: F It seemed like a wasted year in the rebuilding process. The switch to the 3-4 defense only created older starters giving up 26.5 points a game, and QB Matt Cassel didn’t have yard-after-the-catch receivers to bulk up his puny 5.9 yards-per-attempt average."
