Chiefs Defeat Broncos 44-24

The Chiefs showed the AFC West a glimpse of things to come, as Jamaal Charles ran all over the Denver Broncos for the teams 4th victory of the season. Charles rumbled for a stunning 259 yards, as he seized the franchise record for ground yardage in a single game. The victory officially sealed Denver’s playoff hopes and provided the Chiefs with their first victory at Invesco Field since it opened.

Derrick Johnson provided two clutch interceptions returns for touchdowns to help keep the Broncos at bay. Overall, the effort was complete on both sides of the football as various Chiefs made plays on offense, defense and special teams.

The win was a breath of fresh air for an organization suffering it’s 3rd consecutive season of 4 wins or less. However, Haley’s squad managed to double last years win total while providing a glimmer of hope for Chiefs fans heading into the offseason.

Monday will surely bring a lot of changes around the league. The Chiefs are expected to bring in Romeo Crennel to replace Clancy Pendergast at defensive coordinator, as well as Charlie Weiss to take over play calling duties from coach Todd Haley on offense. How soon these moves might be made remains to be seen, however, I expect the Chiefs to move fairly fast. GM Scott Pioli was hindered a bit last offseason as he waited to hire Todd Haley during the Cardinals Super Bowl run. Don’t expect the Chiefs to waste any time this offseason, as they look to bring in coaching personnel to help lead them into a new decade of Chiefs football.
