Marcus Kemp interview: Chiefs WR stays realistic yet determined
By Matt Conner
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marcus Kemp talks to us about his interests off the field, his NFL dreams and why he tries to stay realistic through it all.
Marcus Kemp is keeping a level head these days. As an undrafted free agent attempting to make the Kansas City Chiefs, he knows he faces an uphill climb. He kept that same attitude through the NFL Draft, for a full seven rounds, during which he admits being frustrated but he also says he knew it was likely going to unfold that way. It’s all part of staying “realistic,” a word that comes up again and again when speaking with Kemp.
However, what is also realistic is that Kemp has a definite chance to make this team. His long, athletic frame at 6’4, 185 would create mismatches with smaller corners, and Kemp also proved he’s fast enough for the league with a 4.51 second 40-yard dash. Last season for Hawaii, Kemp had 73 catches for 1,100 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns.
We recently sat down with Marcus to talk about his realistic nature, his NFL dreams and how he spends his time off the field.
