LoC: Optimum Scouting Director Eric Galko on Chiefs draft class
By Ryan Tracy
Optimum Scouting’s Eric Galko joins Locked on Chiefs to talk more about Kansas City’s 2017 draft class.
This draft was mostly about finding players whose athleticism will allow them to play in the future. Eric Galko of Optimum Scouting has complete scouting reports on each prospect the Chiefs selected in the 2017 draft. He sat down with use to discuss the Kansas City draft selections in detail.
The offense players appear to be ahead of the game in preparing to be on the field and contribute to their new team. Kareem Hunt and Jehu Chesson will have great value in rotation on offense and could contribute on special teams early.
Patrick Mahomes is the player the Galko rated as the number one quarterback in the class. His fit in the Andy Reid system is one that Galko predicted early in the draft process. Early progress is not a surprise for Galko.
On defense, the Chiefs may have to wait a little bit longer to see production from this draft class. Galko believes that athleticism above all is what will give them a roll early on. Their playing time will be primarily on special teams.
