A handful of servicemen and servicewomen from Whiteman Air Force Base will announce the Chiefs picks on Day 3 of the 2017 NFL Draft.

The Kansas City Chiefs will follow the typical protocol expected from NFL Draft festivities when they announce their picks on Thursday and Friday nights as rounds one through three unfold, respectively. On Day 3, however, the Chiefs will allow the event arena to change to Whiteman Air Force Base, located near Knob Noster, Missouri, about 70 miles from Kansas City.

In addition to creating a lively environment with the team’s cheerleaders, former players, current players, KC Wolf and more, the Chiefs will also invite a handful of servicemen and servicewomen to make the team’s several selections during the draft’s final four rounds. Specifically the Chiefs have six scheduled picks on that day.

  1. Round 4, Pick 26 (132)
  2. Round 5, Pick 27 (170)
  3. Round 5, Pick 37 (180) (Comp. selection)
  4. Round 6, Pick 33 (216) (Comp. selection)
  5. Round 6, Pick 35 (218) (Comp. selection)
  6. Round 7, Pick 27 (245)

The event is scheduled for service members and their families as well as season ticket holders for the Kansas City Chiefs. Football-themed games and Play 60 stations will be available for kids, along with food and drink and autograph stations for adults. From the Chiefs official site:

"In addition to the activities, Whiteman will have a number of United States Air Force aircraft on static display for photo opportunities, including a B-2 Spirit stealth bomber, an A-10 Thunderbolt II close air support plane, a T-38 Talon supersonic jet trainer, a Black Hawk utility helicopter and an Apache attack helicopter, weather permitting."

Various military members or personnel will also be involved in making picks on day three for the Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears.
