Kansas City Chiefs on the right road, if they’re headed to Houston

Nothing is certain in the NFL, but the likelihood is that Kansas City’s path to Houston will be impeded by a rematch with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

NFL fans are a curious bunch. Ask them what attributes define a good football team and toughness is sure to make the list. Though, when the single-elimination postseason tournament approaches, many of them will campaign for what’s ostensibly the simplest path to the Super Bowl. For the past two weeks, social media’s exploded with seemingly one plea after another.

Avoid the Pittsburgh Steelers at ALL costs!

The ideal matchup for Kansas City was to be the Houston Texans (had Oakland won the division). The memory of a lop-sided postseason affair is much more vivid than the Chiefs’ early-season loss on the same NRG Stadium field. In fairness, there’s some thought that the Texans, at present, aren’t the same football team.

Starting quarterback Brock Osweiler lost his job to backup Tom Savage. Houston lost four of its last seven down the stretch. Surely, they’d be a much more favorable matchup than the team that trounced Kansas City before a national audience, right?
