There have been reports all week that the Kansas City Chiefs and New York jets would be playing through the rain on Sunday afternoon. Here’s an update.

Despite all the talk that this game would be played on a soggy Arrowhead Stadium field, it appears the rain will have stopped by the time the kickoff happens. While there was rain in the morning, it appears that it will be long gone by the time we have action, according to the Weather Channel.

Who this gives an advantage to is a tough call. Some believe that a wet field plays well for the receivers, because they know where the route is headed and the corners don’t. If you subscribe to that line of thinking, than the Chiefs should be happy that the rain stopped. It’s going to be hard enough covering Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker and Quincy Enunwa.

However, if you think that the rain was going to stop Ryan Fitzpatrick from throwing down the field, then you probably wish it kept coming down. Fitzpatrick throws downfield more than just about any quarterback in the league, so that is significant.

Last year, the Chiefs played in some nasty weather, including games against the San Diego Chargers and Buffalo Bills. Kansas City was able to win both those games, so perhaps it bodes well that there is some rain in the area.
