It is only May, but we are already looking at the Kansas City Chiefs in a fresh set of power rankings.

Power ranking will drive a fan crazy. Everybody has their own criteria for what should put a team above another, and nobody will ever agree. To only ratchet up the level of craziness, ESPN decided to unveil new power rankings in May, when nobody can prove them right or wrong for another four months.

Currently, ESPN lists the Chiefs as the 10th-best team overall including the No. 5 spot in the AFC. Certainly, Kansas City should be in the playoffs in 2016 and perhaps be one of the favorites to reach the Super Bowl. The Chiefs only lost Sean Smith in free agency and added Mitch Schwartz at right tackle.

My definition of power rankings is if the two teams line up against each other, who is favored to win on a neutral field? The Denver Broncos would not be favored to beat the Chiefs, yet are ranked eighth. I also believe the Minnesota Vikings are a quality team but Kansas City would be favored. Minnesota is ninth.

Beyond that, the argument could be made either way for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cincinnati Bengals, Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers. All of those teams could beat the Chiefs, and the Chiefs could beat them.

Where do you have Kansas City, Addicts? I would put the Chiefs sixth.
