Chris Jones has signed his rookie deal with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Kansas City Chiefs are not wasting any time, signing second-round pick Chris Jones to a rookie deal, per Pro Football Talk. Jones will be coming to rookie camp tomorrow in Kansas City with the knowledge that he i now a millionaire, which has to be a pretty sweet feeling.

It’s nice to get this deal out of the way. It is much easier to sign rookies now since the wage scale was imposed on first-time contracts back in 2011. Jones will come in and get a four-year deal. It’s unclear the exact terms of the contract at this point, although they will likely come out at some point today (and we will update you).

Jones is going to come in and compete with Dontari Poe, Allen Bailey and Jaye Howard for playing time in 2016, something that could be hard to come by. Look for Jones to replace the snaps taken by Mike DeVito, who retired a few weeks ago after playing three quality seasons in Kansas City.

With Jones’ deal getting done, we need to keep a keen eye out for other Chiefs rookies signing on the dotted line.
