Kansas City Chiefs general manager John Dorsey tells us Justin Houston will play in 2016.

Well, this is pretty huge news. Kansas City Chiefs general manager John Dorsey was speaking in a press conference on Friday and dropped a bombshell on all of us.

“Justin Houston will be playing this season,” Dorsey said. “… I’m not a medical expert, but our doctors have resassured us that Justin Houston will be playing this season.”

Considering the team gave a 6-12 month recovery time from Houston’s ACL repair, this is a nice proclamation. Houston is a huge part of the team and with him on the mend, Chiefs fans should be feeling very good.

Ultimately, this is huge news for the Chiefs. Houston is the best player on the team at this juncture and having him back for all or most of the season is massive.

Dorsey also added that Houston is ahead of schedule and that head trainer Rick Burkholder has been in communication with him. When asked about whether or not the Chiefs would look at taking an outside linebacker early in the draft, Dorsey stated he expects Dee Ford and Tamba Hali to take the reigns while the team perhaps looks for rotational depth. In other words, there is not going to be a first-round pick spent on an edge rusher.
