Packers favored by large spread over Chiefs

The Green Bay Packers are a popular pick to win the Super Bowl, due in large part to their incredible record at Lambeau Field. Last year, the Packers were 9-0 at their home park, including a win in the Divisional playoffs over the Dallas Cowboys.

On Monday night, the Kansas City Chiefs will attempt to do the near impossible and take down Green Bay on the road. Because of that obstacle (and the meltdown we witnessed on Thursday night), the Chiefs are 7.5-point underdogs against the Packers, per OddsShark. To put that in perspective, the only lines that are larger features games like the New England Patriots and Jacksonville Jaguars and the Chicago Bears visiting the Seattle Seahawks.

Green Bay gets three points immediately on the spread because it is the home team, meaning Vegas sees the Chiefs as 4.5 worse than the Packers in a neutral setting. If the game were being played at Arrowhead, Green Bay would be favored by 1.5 points.

Honestly, this seems like a fair line. Vegas wants people to place money on both sides, and this line should accomplish that. The Chiefs Kingdom can’t complain considering what happened against the Denver Broncos. Hopefully, the players will want to prove that they are much better than the comedy of errors they put forth in Week 2.

I would pick the Packers to win the game, but for Kansas City to cover. Despite having Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay does not have an incredible amount of weapons with Jordy Nelson and potentially Eddie Lacy out. Kansas City’s defense is tremendous and the hope is that Jamaal Charles can have a big game. It would not be a shocker if the Chiefs win, so take the points and run.
