On this episode of Roughing the Kicker, Joshua Brisco tries to determine how the Chiefs’ wide receiver group will pan out in 2015, discusses the buzz around a second-year player, and takes a look at some of the praise that the Chiefs have gotten from the national media.

If you haven’t heard, the Chiefs had a historically bad performance from their wide receivers last season. Brought in by the much-to-my-surprise signing, Jeremy Maclin is not just a band-aid on the problem, he’s a bunch of stitches and a blood transfusion. With Maclin, the Chiefs now have something that many NFL teams don’t have: a true No. 1 wideout. Just by glancing over a list of 2015 fantasy WR rankings, I think that Maclin is, on the pessimistic side, the fifteenth best real-life receiver in football. (Don’t get caught up in the fantasy element. Let’s strictly talk real-life games for now.)
Jeremy Maclin is not just a band-aid on the problem, he’s a bunch of stitches and a blood transfusion.
Even with Maclin locked into his role as the top dog of the outside guys, the Chiefs receiving corps is still predominantly made of question marks. On this episode of the show, find out what Andy Reid’s past suggests for Chris Conley’s future and what to expect from the rest of the Chiefs small speed.
On the other side of the ball, Phillip Gaines is getting a lot of praise around the league, and I think it is well-deserved. However, when his performance costs Marcus Peters some playing time, we should be excited, not horrified.
Also on this episode, I take a look at some praise the Chiefs have gotten from national media, some news from OTAs, and NFL news that the Chiefs are certainly noting.
