Chiefs Beat Oakland: Alex Smith is Dead, Long Live Alex Smith!

The Chiefs beat the Raiders with a productive passing game and solid offensive line play. We all saw that coming, right?

On this episode of Roughing the Kicker, Joshua Brisco and Ryan Landreth break down the Chiefs victory over the Oakland Raiders and take a peek at how this week’s action effects the Chiefs’ shot at the playoffs.

A win is great and was desperately needed, but was this effort enough to win in Pittsburgh? I fear not.

We thought the Chiefs would get the win, but with 21 combined penalties and 18 combined punts, it was an ugly but effective effort. However, for the first time all year, we saw Alex Smith take downfield shots, the offensive line gave him a chance to shoot deep, and and the receivers got seperation. The Raiders didn’t exploit the Chiefs’ weakness on defense, and the pass defense held up their end of the bargain. Now the Chiefs immediately have to begin to look ahead to the Steelers and figure out how to win in Pittsburgh.
