X-Rays For Jamaal Charles Come Back Negative

UPDATE: Looks like Charles has the dreaded high ankle sprain. These injuries usually heal slowly and cause players to miss some time.

X-rays on Jamaal Charles’ ankle have comeback negative and he’s been diagnosed with a sprained ankle according to reports. Here is one of them.

Charles is also scheduled for an MRI.

Should the MRI come clean then Charles is saddled with a sprained ankle which poses a wide range or possibilities. High ankle sprains are the worst sprains because they take so much longer to recover from then the other types of sprains. Avoiding those two words would be a very nice thing to hear later this week.

However it would seem whatever Charles has is going to keep him out for at least a little while. Charles left the game in the first quarter and did not return after receiving medical treatment. If he cannot practice this week it would be a surprise if he played in next Sunday’s game against Miami.

Knile Davis proved Sunday he can hold the fort for a short term period after his performance against Denver. And if the Chiefs can get De’Anthony Thomas back from his hamstring injury then KC should have enough fire power to at least have a sustainable offense.

But Kansas City absolutely needs Charles back if they want to see any kind of success this season. Hopefully Charles’ injury isn’t anything more serious than a sprained ankle.
