De’Anthony Thomas is very fast.
Very, very, very, very fast.
Need proof? Watch DAT’s first career punt return from the end of the first quarter in the Chiefs preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Folks, all De’Anthony Thomas does is score touchdowns. And it took all of one quarter as a professional to prove his speed can play at the NFL level. Get excited!
What may be most impressive about that run was his ability to protect the ball and stay on his feet through the initial contact. How many times did we see Dexter McCluster get knocked to the ground on situations such as the one DAT was in on that play? It seemed it didn’t take much to bring McCluster down. Thomas withstood some contact on the play, kept his balance, and accelerated at an all-world level.
There were some ups and downs to the first half of the Chiefs first half of the preseason but seeing DAT make a big play right off the bat is an incredibly positive sign for the Chiefs fortunes in 2014. Now excuse me, I have to go buy a DAT jersey.
