Madden 15 released their team rating for the AFC West today and the Chiefs came in with a 82 overall rating, putting them third in the AFC West. Denver (90) and San Diego (83) are ahead of the Chiefs in the division while Oakland is last with a 72 overall rating.

Madden’s ranking of the Chiefs best players features Jamaal Charles (97) as one of the best players in the game. Justin Houston is a 93 and Tamba Hali is a 92 so the edge pass rush should be pretty amazing. Derrick Johnson is a respectable, but underrated, 91 and Eric Berry was given a 90 rating.

Anthony Sherman is also a 90 overall player at fullback.

The biggest whiff was on Dontari Poe, who is ranked by Madden as an 87 overall player. One would think that should change quickly after a few more weeks of Poe collapsing the pocket and single-handedly stopping the opponent’s running game. Poe should easily be at least a 90 rated player when the first rounds of roster updates come out.

Part of the issue right now is some of the players we think will be good are very underrated by Madden right now. De’Anthony Thomas, Zach Fulton, and Mike Catapano are all rated under 70 as things stand, so the Chiefs should see a boost soon.
