It looks like if the Chiefs want to keep Akeem Jordan then they are going to have a lot of competition for his services. Aaron Wilson writes for the National Football Post that up to six teams are interested in Jordan.

From the report:

"Kansas City Chiefs inside linebacker Akeem Jordan has drawn interest from six teams already, according to league sources. The 6-foot-1, 230-pounder has a visit unofficially scheduled with an AFC team for Thursday."

Jordan was primarily a run-stopper for the Chiefs and was flexed out in nickel and sub-packages for another defensive back. He was particularly valuable given fourth-round pick Nico Johnson‘s injury situation. Losing Jordan would put a lot of pressure on Johnson to be ready to start in week one unless the Chiefs find a suitable replacement in free agency.

There is some hope the Chiefs could retain him according to Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star.

Keeping Jordan means keeping a stable run defense together. It doesn’t solve the issue of finding another pass rusher or pass coverage middle linebacker to sub for Jordan or Johnson against certain teams, but it doesn’t create a new issue either.

The money thing, however, is a different issue. Kansas City simply does not have a lot of it to overspend on someone. Be prepared for Jordan to walk if another team is willing to offer more than the Chiefs.
