According to Mike Garafolo of USA Today, the Kansas City Chiefs are expected to sign former Miami Dolphins TE Anthony Fassano.

Here is the tweet:

Fassano will be 29 in April. He was a second-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 2006. He later landed in Miami. Fassano had 41 receptions for 332 yards and five TDs in 2012. Pro Football Focus graded him a +4.2 last season.

This news broke as soon as the FA period started. It has yet to be confirmed.

This would be a smart move for the Chiefs. KC cut TE Kevin Boss and Tony Moeaki, while talented, has some serious injury concerns.

We haven’t talked a lot about it, but TE was certainly a need for this Chiefs team. John Dorsey seems to want to fill as many holes as possible ahead of the draft so he can implement his “best player available strategy.”

Fasson should be able to push Moeaki for the starting TE position. He also provides nice depth as a pass catcher in case Moeaki doesn’t hold up.

What do you think, Addicts? Do you think the Chiefs should pull the trigger on Fassano?

UPDATE: Adam Teicher has confirmed it.
