Dwayne Bowe Says He’ll Be In Training Camp

Dwayne Bowe may not have signed his franchise tag yet but according to a recent interview, he’ll be to training camp on time.

My buddy Joel Thorman had a chance to speak with Bowe the other day and he asked him point blank whether he’d be in training camp or not. Bowe didn’t hesitate.

“I’ll be there,” said Bowe. “I’m staying in shape until its the time to sign on the dotted line. You got the draft, they got to move stuff around, fill all the other positions and make sure the team is solid before you do it and that’s OK with me.”

That is good news for Chiefs fans who may be getting a little bit nervous about Bowe’s absence at the team’s voluntary workouts.

I would be surprised if the Chiefs don’t ink Bowe to a long-term deal before the July deadline. If the Chiefs don’t give Bowe a long-term deal, he’ll play the whole season under the franchise tag which will pay him over $9 million for one season. It would make much more sense for Scott Pioli to work something out. Besides, Bowe is still the team’s best receiver and thinks will likely stay that way for a while. The only receiver on the roster who has the ability to challenge Bowe for the #1 receiver job is Jonathan Baldwin and thus far he remains a question mark.
