Chiefs See Jeff Allen As Versatile Lineman

Ever since Scott Pioli came to Kansas City, the Chiefs have placed a high value on players with the versatility to play multiple positions.

According to Allen himself, who spoke with Adam Schein, Tim Ryan, and Pat Kirwan on the SiriusXM NFL Radio shortly after being drafted, that is just how the Chiefs see him: “They see me as a versatile guy they can plug in to any position on the line.”

This makes a ton of sense. The Chiefs need depth at both guard and tackle and Allen can provide help at both positions. Shortly after he was picked, Mike Mayock of NFL Network said that he projects Allen as a left guard in Kansas City and mentioned that he thinks thinks Ryan Lilja will have some competition this season.
