Sure, not all problems are the same, but the Kansas City Chiefs have one at wide receiver nonetheless.

So long as the Chiefs have Patrick Mahomes on the field, they'll always be a candidate for a deep postseason run, but no one can deny that the Chiefs were lacking in the playmaker department for most of last season and that Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice could use some running mates.

Sure, Marquez Valdes-Scantling finally made a play when it counted in the postseason and Mecole Hardman and Justin Watson had moments as well in the Super Bowl. But, you can rest assured this Chiefs team will have a much-improved receiving core going into the 2024 season.

Let's take a brief look ahead at some receiving options the Chiefs will have during the offseason which could make this team even more dangerous next year.

1. Adonai Mitchell, Texas, 2024 NFL Draft Prospect

The Chiefs will own the last picks in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, which is where they could end up finding Texas standout Adonai Mitchell. For a late-first, early-second type of talent, Mitchell is as good as they get.

Standing 6-foot-4 and looking every bit of a legitimate WR1 frame, Mitchell has some desirable traits. He's much faster than he might appear, boasting long strides and explosive straight-line speed. His body control is impressive, both when it comes to making the acrobatic catches and also during the simpler routes where he gives quarterbacks an easier, open-facing target.

Mitchell is stronger than he might look, too. He can overpower defensive backs in a way that might surprise some. And, one other impressive attribute is the fact that he's a hands catcher. He'll use his hands first, and his body only if needed.

This last season, Mitchell ended with 55 receptions for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns. On the Chiefs, he'd very well have a chance to establish himself as the top wideout from the get-go.

2. Mike Evans, Free Agent

The dream free agent signing for this Chiefs team has to be Mike Evans. We're talking about a 30-year-old receiver who still looks like he's 25 and not slowing down anytime soon. The longtime Tampa Bay Buccaneers wideout just played his 10th season in NFL and wrapped up his 10th season with over 1,000 receiving yards.

There aren't many more consistent, dependable wide receivers in the league.

Evans would give Mahomes the alpha target he needs on the outside. Most fans know just how good Evans is. He's a 6-foot-5 monster of a receiver whose catch radius has few limits. He is one of those guys who can go up and get a 50/50 ball with ease and is also a natural when it comes to the red zone, back shoulder fades.

Evans' time with Tampa Bay may be coming to an end, too, after he asked the team for a new deal prior to last season and one never came. He's had some impressive years as a pro, but in Kansas City, we might see his best yet.

3. Ja'Lynn Polk, Washington, 2024 NFL Draft Prospect

Everyone talks about Rome Odunze as the best wide receiver prospect coming out of Washington, but the Huskies might very well have a pair of first-round talents on their hands. Ja'Lynn Polk is "the other guy" that you'd be remiss to forget about.

The 6-foot-2 Polk is a smooth operator. He runs some clean, crisp routes and is very fluid in doing so. His ability to sell certain routes is impeccable at times. It's really a thing of beauty to watch. Imagining his route-running and creativity alongside Mahomes throwing him the football could equal some magical moments for the Chiefs offense.

One thing Chiefs fans will love to hear is that Polk also has some sticky hands. When he is able to get his hands on the football, he doesn't often drop it. It's as good as caught, so long as he touches it. That can also be said for contested catches or when having to make a grab through contact. Polk can do it, and he does it well.

In his final season with the Huskies, Polk caught 69 passes for 1,159 yards and nine scores.

4. Tee Higgins, Free Agent

If it's not Mike Evans and it's not a top draft prospect, then Chiefs fans would be clamoring for Veach to go out and get Tee Higgins in free agency. Higgins is very likely to sign with a new team, too, with the Cincinnati Bengals needing to eventually pay Ja'Marr Chase on what will be a hefty contract extension.

Higgins is coming off a down year due to struggling with some injuries as well as not having Joe Burrow under center for a chunk of the season. It was a tough year for the former Clemson standout. But, Higgins is still viewed as a top-20 receiver in this league and could easily be a top-10 guy on this Chiefs team.

Like Evans, Higgins is a big-bodied target, standing 6-foot-4. If Higgins hadn't been sharing targets with Chase over the last couple of seasons, he would probably have ended up with some even more monstrous seasons, putting him into the conversation of one of the top wideouts in the league today.

With Mahomes, Higgins would have the chance at being a top-5 wide receiver, and that's not by any stretch. He would be exactly what this team needs, and whether it's Higgins or another top option, it is up to Veach to make a move like this happen.
