While the latest injury updates and reports regarding Patrick Mahomes' ankle aren't all that surprising, it's nice to see things laid out plainly all the same.

NFL reporter James Palmer has word that Mahomes is "going to play" at this point, although the week is still touch-and-go as it relates to his ability to practice and/or feel good about being on his ankle by Saturday.

The Chiefs are scheduled to host the Houston Texans on Saturday, December 21 in a special afternoon broadcast that features a major AFC showdown at Arrowhead Stadium. Both teams have already locked up a playoff spot with their respective division titles, but teams are still jostling for playoff seeding—especially K.C.'s pursuit for the top seed overall in the conference.
