WEEK 10, Bye Week

Coming off of an international game, the Chiefs could use the rest and this bye week comes at the perfect time. Not only is it right in the middle of the season to help with any sort of injuries or rest, but the Chiefs can fulfill their global responsibilities and showcase the team in Frankfurt before giving them significant time off. They even get an extra day because they aren’t up again until Monday Night Football. That’s 15 days between games—a lifetime in the NFL.

WEEK 11, Nov. 20 (Monday) @ 7:15 p.m. – Philadelphia Eagles

This is the game of the year, the most anticipated regular-season matchup that any person could conjure pitting the most talented roster front-to-back on paper against the defending champs. The star power is as good as it gets. Oh yeah, it’s also a rematch of a very, very close Super Bowl and could serve as a preview of this year’s edition as well.

From a Chiefs’ perspective, it’s hard to predict Mahomes losing to almost any team at any point without sounding foolish or being contrarian, but the Eagles are a good bet to win, even at Arrowhead. Imagine a team that already played them so close in the Super Bowl adding the most celebrated draft class of the offseason. They should be better after a year of deep postseason experience and Jalen Hurts now has his well-earned extension in hand.

The dark side here is to see just how much safety play drops for the Eagles, because if the help isn’t there like it was last year at times, then opposing offenses are going to continue to challenge them deep. And let’s not forget that both coordinators have departed for new head coaching opportunities—Shane Steichen to the Colts and Jonathan Gannon to the Cardinals. Perhaps some leadership turnover could also upset expectations in Philly. We’re not counting on it.

Prediction: Eagles 30, Chiefs 28
