Defensive Tackles

A run-stopping defensive lineman to play next to Chris Jones is definitely a need. They have lots of options to line up next to Jones on passing downs (Wharton, Omenihu, Danna), but nobody that’s a physical presence. Derrick Nnadi is still on the market if KC wants to bring him back to eat some snaps. Nnadi is fine, but not the most exciting option. The guys below are all players I would have above the “Derrick Nnadi re-sign” line of excitement.

Poona Ford – A little undersized, but he has a nonstop motor on the interior and could play the run and get after the quarterback some on passing downs.

Calais Campbell – A little tall at 6-foot-8 to be a true run stuffer, but Campbell is a veteran force on the interior and would be a great addition that Steve Spagnuolo could move around the line as part of the rotation.

A’Shawn Robinson – Robinson has a visit with the Giants this week but might be the best pure run-stopping defensive tackle available.

Matt Ioannidis – An underrated defensive lineman that could stay on the field for three downs if needed.

Akiem Hicks – Former Bears stud who may not be able to stay healthy, but would still be an upgrade when he was.

Shelby Harris – Another guy that’s a little undersized but has shown he can still hold up on the interior.

Chris Wormley – The former Steeler is a proven run-stopper who may come at a discount since his season was cut short last year by a knee injury.

Finally, let’s look at the edge players still available.
