Ranking KC Chiefs biggest injury concerns heading into Super Bowl LVII
By Matt Conner
3. L’Jarius Sneed
With the two best players in the entire game out of the way (on either roster), the biggest injury concern falls upon perhaps the most underrated player on the entire Chiefs team: cornerback L’Jarius Sneed.
While Chris Jones is the best defensive player, the truth is that no one else allows Steve Spagnuolo to do what he wants more than Sneed. He’s a do-it-all cornerback whose versatility creates myriad options for Spags at any point, utilizing him as the ultimate defensive chess piece to keep offenses guessing. His production speaks for itself with 3 interceptions, 3.5 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles in 2022—perhaps the biggest Pro Bowl snub on K.C. this season.
Sneed can play inside and outside and anywhere in between. He’s comfortable in the slot and is excellent as an extra blitzer. He can also handle the run well and his instincts are getting better each season. After this season, the drum beat to extend Sneed will begin in earnest, but a healthy showing in Super Bowl LVII could make that even louder.
