Resolution: Find some defensive consistency.

I’m going to keep this one pretty short and simple. Steve Spagnuolo has to find a way to find some consistency on defense. I feel like consistency is a word I’ve used a lot in these resolutions, but the defense is definitely where it is needed the most.

Sometimes the Chiefs stuff the run. Sometimes they get gashed by the run and can’t seem to tackle. Sometimes they terrorize the opposing quarterback and sometimes they can’t get a finger on him. Sometimes they lock up opposing pass catchers and sometimes they allow them to run wide open all over the field.

Is the Chiefs’ defense good? Sometimes.

Is the Chiefs’ defense terrible? Sometimes.

I know the other teams get paid to play the game too and no defense is going to be perfect, but it sure feels like KC has a bigger discrepancy between their highs and lows than other teams that I watch. As the defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has to find a way to not let the lows be so low. With a Patrick Mahomes offense, you don’t have to be perfect, but you need to not be a problem.

Speaking of Patrick Mahomes, he’s up next.
