Around the AFC West: Chiefs continue to dominate their division

Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs looked to take care of business against the reigning Super Bowl champs. Let’s be clear, it hurts my soul to call the Rams the reigning champs because they have looked anything but. This was one of those games that, at the beginning of the year, looked like a marquee matchup and as it got closer, looked like a snooze fest. Snooze fest it was.
The Chiefs played a very vanilla game and at no point was I stressed about the outcome of the game – even with mistakes, the Chiefs never gave me much pause. I think the biggest stars of the game were Isiah Pacheco, who continues to impress. That kid has so much burst and speed and his energy are infectious! Love him!
Every Isiah Pacheco touch from Week 12, Rams at Chiefs.

The other is George Karlaftis who finally got his first NFL solo sack – congratulations to Furious George!!

I am also encouraged that the Chiefs are finally removing Skyy Moore from punt return duties – it isn’t his forte and clearly could shake the rookie’s confidence. Let’s let him do what he is good at and catch the ball while running great routes. He and Patrick Mahomes are starting to get on the same page and it looks like this could be a fun pairing for years to come.
Skyy Moore doing a nice job of recognizing the Rams Cloud coverage on his side and converting his Out route on Stick to a Fade.

Mahomes also recognizes it right away (look when he releases the throw) and hits Moore on the hole shot before the Safety even has a chance. pic.twitter.com/CZMIMtOR8o
The Chiefs left the game injury-free which is good news because their next matchup is a critical one. On Sunday, they face the Bengals – the team that stormed back in the second half at Arrowhead and prevented the Chiefs from taking on the Rams in last year’s Super Bowl. This is a revenge game, of course, but it is probably the last big test for the Chiefs. If they come away with a win, they likely cruise to the number one overall seed and a first-round bye in the playoffs. This game is critical and I can’t wait.
