Around the AFC West: Raiders embarrassed while Chiefs rest

Denver Broncos
The Broncos traveled across the pond to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in Sunday morning football from London. The joke running through the week was Russell Wilson claiming he did high knees through the aisles of the plane to keep his hamstring loose so he could start. It appears it worked as the Broncos handed Jacksonville another loss.
The game featured two go-ahead scoring drives led by Russell Wilson and featured a beautiful 47-yard pass to K.J. Hamler.
Ultimately, it wasn’t so much Denver playing well as it was Trevor Lawrence’s poor play that resulted in the Broncos’ win. This snapped a 4-game losing streak and moved the Broncos to 3-5 on the season and third in the AFC West.
The biggest news, however, was that the Broncos traded their star pass rusher, Bradley Chubb, to the Miami Dolphins.
The Dolphins are in a division competing with the Bills and despite the Tua injury earlier this season, appear to be heading toward the playoffs and truly competing for the division in the future. Adding a great pass rusher to their defense is vital when they have to challenge Josh Allen twice a year. I love this addition for Miami; I hate it for Denver. Dummies.
I get that they are certainly not going anywhere special this year, but it seems like they are building up draft picks to eventually dump Russell Wilson because, let’s face it, he fell off the cliff.
The Broncos now head into their bye week with the hope that they can figure some issues out. It’s clear that there are real problems with their team and they are nowhere close to competing for the division. Their hope has to be that they can make progress with their first-year head coach and that Russell Wilson continues to do high knees in plane aisles because it appeared to work this week.
