2018 vs. Chargers

Chiefs fan has gotten a taste of Patrick Mahomes in a Week 17 teaser in 2017 against the Denver Broncos. After another disappointing playoff loss to the Tennessee Titans, the excitement going into the new era in 2018 was like none that Kansas City had experienced in quite some time, and the opener did not disappoint.

Mahomes and the Chiefs traveled to Los Angeles to play the Chargers in a soccer stadium that held 27,000 people. There were 25,351 in attendance, and to anyone watching the game at the time, it appeared at least 21,000 of those were Chiefs fans.

This game was tight through the first half but got away from the Chargers in the third quarter. Mahomes found De’Anthony Thomas on the Chief’s first possession out of the break for a 1-yard touchdown, and later in the third hit Anthony Sherman on the now notorious Sausage Wheel route in the final minute of the frame. Mahomes found 6 different receivers in this game, but Tyreek Hill led the way with 7 receptions for 169 yards and 2 TD to go along with a punt return TD just 1:57 into the game.
