CHIEFS vs LAS VEGAS RAIDERS, WEEK 14

What a game this was! It is always fun to beat up on the Las Vegas Raiders, but this season’s Week 14 matchup was extra, extra sweet for Chiefs Kingdom.

For some reason, prior to the game, the Raiders decided to gather on the Chiefs logo at midfield. It was an action seemingly intended to motivate and galvanize the playing group. And to be fair, it did exactly that—but for their opponents. The ridiculous pre-game stunt backfired spectacularly, instantaneously.

The Raiders’ very first play from scrimmage saw a fumble returned for a touchdown. Less than 20 seconds into the game, Las Vegas were down 7-0. It was a sign of things to come. The Chiefs scored five touchdowns in the first half as they absolutely blew the Raiders off the park. Las Vegas would turn the ball over five times on their way to a 48-9 thumping.

If the score and the thumping wasn’t bad enough for the visitors, the stadium crew at Arrowhead blasted “Wheels on the Bus” through the speakers as they walked off the field – a not-so-subtle dig at the ‘lap of honor’ the Raiders took around Arrowhead after beating the Chiefs there the year before.

Patrick Mahomes was 20-24 on the day with 258 yards and two touchdowns. Clyde Edwards-Helaire had two rushing touchdowns, Josh Gordon caught his first – and so far only – touchdown as a chief, and Derrick Gore ended the game on a high with a 51-yard rushing TD to cap of a memorable game.
