Ranking the KC Chiefs against the rest of the AFC playoff teams
6. Las Vegas Raiders
I have to be honest, I’m shocked that the Las Vegas Raiders made the playoffs after everything they went through this season. I’m also shocked that they weren’t the lowest ranked team in these Power Rankings. While I’m not a Derek Carr truther, I don’t think anyone can deny that he’s a better quarterback than Big Ben is at this point. Then you mix in Darren Waller, Hunter Renfrow, and Josh Jacobs and you have at least a respectable offense.
The defense has a couple of good edge rushers, but the rest of the unit leaves a little to be desired. If this team wants to have anything more than just a token playoff appearance they are probably going to need Carr and the offense to really catch fire. Still, you have to give interim coach Rich Bisaccia a ton of credit for keeping this team together through Jon Gruden’s firing, the Henry Ruggs disaster, and injuries to key players like Waller.
That all being said, that overtime win over the Chargers had to be exhausting and now they have to travel to Cincinnati for a game on Saturday. I’m guessing that they won’t have enough left in the tank to take on a Bengals team that has a ton of firepower on offense and home fans that will be going insane as they look for their first playoff win in 31 years. Props to the Raiders for making it this far (and keeping Justin Herbert out of the playoffs), but I just don’t see them advancing.
