Staying in it

Kansas City has been ordinary (at best) in their past two weeks, but even so, they have still been in with a shot at the death and that should provide some solace to Chiefs fans. Despite playing poorly against two fellow playoff contenders, the Chiefs have had a chance to win both games right at the end.

Kansas City’s defense got mauled by the Ravens, but still, they looked set to have a shot at a game-winning field goal before a fumble cost them that chance. The Chiefs were -4 in turnovers against the Chargers on Sunday, but still only lost by less than one score.

These results are no doubt frustrating and the last two games have been riddled with mistakes. But K.C.’s ability to still be in with a shot at winning when they are clearly not at their best is somewhat promising

The Chiefs are 1-2. There are kinks to work out, problems to overcome, but they just as easily could be 3-0 and we are still yet to see them play anywhere near their full potential this season. That Kansas City has still come close to winning against two playoff contenders despite playing well below their regular standards should offer hope that they’re best will be good enough to beat anyone.
