4.) Curley Culp

One of the multiple Hall of Famers Kansas City has acquired via free agency was defensive tackle Curley Culp. He was drafted in the 1968 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos, but he never played a snap for the team.

Instead, Culp played in Kansas City for just over six seasons, helping anchor a terrifying defense that propelled the team to a Super Bowl IV Championship. He transformed the nose tackle position, after being told he was too short to play the defensive line, by making it a position which could pressure the quarterback rather than simply take up space and stuff the run.

Sacks weren’t a recorded stat during Culp’s NFL career but his play was impressive enough that he was selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013.
