Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers might be the most active in the AFC West during this offseason and it appears that the majority of their moves are looking to again combat the reigning Super Bowl LIV MVP. Most notably, the Chargers reinforced an already deep and athletic secondary with the addition of Chris Harris Jr. This secondary is lethal and will certainly be one of the tougher secondaries the Kansas City Chiefs will face next year.

Additionally, the Chargers made a conscious decision to work on their offensive line. They made a number of moves, but the two that are most likely to be the best are the signing of former Green Bay Packer Bryan Bulaga and the trade of Russell Okung for Trai Turner. Coupled with injury, the Chargers have struggled to protect the quarterback and this shows a concerted effort to fix that problem.

Speaking of quarterback the Chargers parted ways with Philip Rivers. I’m a little sad to see that rascal leave the AFC West. He was always a great smack talker goshdarnit! He is headed to Indianapolis while the Chargers competed for Tom Brady. They lost the fight and have made it clear they will be rolling with Tyrod Taylor under center…assuming they don’t draft a quarterback (they are drafting a quarterback).

The Chargers also used their franchise tag on tight end Hunter Henry and signed defensive tackle Linval Joseph. Henry, when healthy, is a great player and adds a dynamic weapon for whoever is under center. Joseph is a tough interior lineman that will fill the hole left after the Chargers released Brandon Mebane. The Chargers are certainly making moves in an attempt to rival the reigning Super Bowl Champs!
