Predicting the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs schedule
Week 14 – New England Patriots, Foxboro Stadium
This had been the biggest game on the Chiefs schedule all season long, and while the loss to the Titans all but ensures the Chiefs are out of the race for the number one seed, the game will still undoubtedly bring out the best of Andy Reid and Tom Brady.
Despite a glowing record against him, Bill Belichick defenses have always struggled against Andy’s offenses, including allowing over 41.5 points per game against offenses featuring Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid. The Patriots defense is good, but they’re not fast, and the Chiefs have speed by the tons.
Inversely, the Patriots want to run the football, and that recipe has worked for them in big games for two decades. Kansas City’s run defense had everyone feeling good after holding Dalvin Cook to his lowest production of the season, but then gave back all of that goodwill in watching the Henry rush for 188 yards and two touchdowns.
We’re not saying (yet) that Kansas City will beat New England when it matters most in January, but it is going to be very difficult for the Patriots offense to keep pace against Mahomes and the Chiefs, just like we saw against the Baltimore Ravens in Week Nine. The Patriots go down in this one, but don’t really care because they’ll still get the number one seed: Chiefs 44, Patriots 27. (9-4)
Week 15 – Denver Broncos, Arrowhead Stadium
Count us in among the people who believe the Broncos are bad at football. Kansas City already dismantled them, in Denver, with a starting quarterback playing the majority of the game. At this point, there is no reason to believe this Week 15 contest in Arrowhead will be any different. Expect a consistent and torturous pass rush that makes it impossible for Denver to move the ball. Expect an offense that moves at will and lets off the gas in the second half (because Andy Reid): Chiefs 28, Broncos 11. (10-4)
