The Strong Draft Class

The Chiefs did not have a first-round draft pick in 2019. Despite not having one, that does not mean a team can’t have a successful draft class. Look at 2016, for example.

The Chiefs traded out of the first round while drafting Chris Jones in the second round and Tyreek Hill in the fifth round, both who combine for four Pro Bowls. Although this draft class did not have a first-round draft pick, it could still be as successful as the one from 2016.

For 2019, Kansas City found some special talent outside of the first round. Wide receiver Mecole Hardman and Juan Thornhill both will be able to prove themselves as first-round quality players. Both players can do their jobs in their respective positions while also contributing on special teams.

Defensive tackle Khalen Saunders can provide depth behind a stout defensive line as running back Darwin Thompson has a chance to be successful, like almost every running back who has played for Andy Reid.

As mentioned previously, cornerback Rashad Fenton can also serve on special teams, if needed. Meanwhile, Nick Allegretti is a versatile interior offensive lineman who may be able to prove he was better than a seventh-round draft pick.
