Looking to the Draft

It is a good year to need defensive players, as this year’s draft class seems to be chock full of them. I’ll make a shameless plug here for my prospect profile series that can be regularly be found here. The Chiefs have some extra draft capital which gives them the flexibility to move around the board, or stay put and reap the benefits of a rich draft class. Here are 10 names to watch over the course of the college football and NFL Draft season:

  • Greedy Williams, CB, Louisiana State University
  • Dalton Risner, OL, Kansas State
  • Clelin Ferrell, Edge, Clemson
  • Deionte Thompson, S, Alabama
  • Josh Allen, Edge, Kentucky
  • Jaquan Johnson, S, Miami
  • Byron Murphy, CB, Washington
  • Dexter Lawrence, NT, Clemson
  • Oshane Ximines, Edge, Old Dominion
  • Raekwon Davis, IDL, Alabama

It was difficult to narrow this list down to just 10, as there are some very talented players in the draft this year. The Chiefs are sitting pretty with extra picks and a roster that doesn’t have many holes overall. This is where Brett Veach will likely look to add a difference maker and put the Chiefs in position for a legitimate Super Bowl run in 2019.

Keep all of this in mind while the 7-1 Chiefs navigate the rest of their season. The Chiefs have played better than even the most optimistic Chief fans could have predicted, and there is a lot of room for growth in the very near future. It’s a good day to be a Chiefs fan.
