Oakland Raiders

Oh man, how I love an Oakland Raiders loss. ON Monday night, the Raiders were defeated by the L.A. Rams at home. At first, while watching the game, I got a little nervous. The Raiders came out hot, firing on all cylinders, and the momentum was capped with a run I still cannot believe from Marshawn Lynch. Seriously, go back and watch that run. Maybe Beastmode has still got it. Either way, that might have been the end of the highlights for the Raiders.

When the Rams got going, the Raiders just couldn’t stop them. Now, the Rams have arguably one of the most talented rosters if not the most talented roster (don’t @ me), so I figured the Raiders would lose, but it always feels good to have the confirmation. One of the biggest concerns for the Raiders should be the fact that they barely got even close to touching Jared Goff. Bruce Irvin had one sack, but other than that, Goff could have stood there all night knitting and no one would have touched him.

The Raiders had issues with penalties and turnovers. At the end of the game, the Raiders finished with 11 penalties for 155 yards (all but one flag for 10 yards came in the first half). This is consistent for the Raiders. Carr threw 3 interceptions, one of which went to Marcus Peters who took it to the house and performed a, well let’s let Marcus describe it: “I did the Beast Mode. That’s what I did.” I won’t get into the Peters debate here, but clearly he is helping the Rams’ defense.

The Raiders long snapper Andrew DaPaola injured his knee which caused backup tight end Lee Smith to fill in. He did fine other than one slightly high snap on a punt.

I don’t know that this game is reason to panic for Raiders fans yet. Clearly there are issues, and I personally don’t believe the Raiders will be any good this season, but who knows? Next week will be a better determination in my opinion. Side note, it hurt my soul to see Derrick Johnson in black and silver.

The Raiders head to Denver to take on the divisional rival Broncos at Mile High at 3:25 p.m. C.T. on Sunday. This is going to be a great AFC West showdown between two teams that still have a lot of questions that need to be answered.
