Game-by-game predictions for the Kansas City Chiefs’ season
By Drew Brooks
Week 6: Chiefs @ Patriots; 10/14, 7:20 P.M.
The Chiefs are heading to Foxborough to play in a primetime game for the second straight season. This game has the potential to be ugly, because the Patriots are going to be looking at this game as a revenge game for the aforementioned Chiefs victory.
I think Tom Brady and the Patriots will light up the scoreboard this game. The Chiefs will put up a good fight early on, but, ultimately, I think the Patriots will come out victorious.
My prediction: 42-23 Patriots win.
Chiefs’ season record: 3-3
Week 7: Chiefs vs Bengals; 10/21, 12:00 P.M.
The Chiefs will be looking to continue to impress at Arrowhead and win their 3rd out of 3 home games. This game will be fun to watch; we’ll get to see two of the fastest guys in the NFL competing in Tyreek Hill and John Ross. The Bengals will give the Chiefs’ secondary trouble early on, but the Chiefs offense will fire right back.
I expect the Chiefs to start bringing their record above .500 and claim a commanding win.
My prediction: 31-17 Chiefs win.
Chiefs’ season record: 4-3
Week 8: Chiefs vs Broncos; 10/28, 12:00 P.M.
Looking to carry momentum from their last game, the Chiefs will be ready for revenge against the Broncos. Since Andy Reid began coaching for the Chiefs in 2013, they have won two out of five homes against the Broncos. It’s time for the Chiefs to bring that record up to .500.
The Broncos defense will give the Chiefs trouble again, but I think the Chiefs offense will still be able to overpower the Broncos.
My prediction: 24-17 Chiefs win.
Chiefs’ season record: 5-3
Week 9: Chiefs @ Browns; 11/4, 12:00 P.M.
Now on a two game win streak, the Chiefs will be seeking their first road win of the season since week 1. The Chiefs will reunite with Terrance Mitchell for the first time after he signed with the Browns in March. I’m sure Mitchell will be trying to pick off his former team, but I think Mahomes will make some nice throws and lead the Chiefs to a third straight win.
My prediction: 28-17 Chiefs win.
Chiefs’ season record: 6-3
Week 10: Chiefs vs Cardinals; 11/11, 12:00 P.M.
The Chiefs will be looking to remain undefeated at home for the season. Patrick Mahomes will have proved his doubters wrong so far, losing only three games.
These two teams don’t meet often, but historically the Chiefs lead the series 8-3-1. Those statistics aren’t too relevant for this matchup and I think the result of this game will prove that. I think we’ll see the Chiefs’ first home loss of the year in a game that they should’ve won.
My prediction: 24-20 Cardinals win.
Chiefs’ season record: 6-4
Week 11: Chiefs @ Rams; 11/19, 7:15 P.M.
This game is an away game, but it feels more neutral since it’s being played in Mexico. We can expect Marcus Peters to be looking for revenge against his old team under the lights of Monday Night Football. Peters will be trying to back up his belief that he can, and will, pick off Mahomes.
I think the Rams are going to enter this game expecting to win. Mahomes is going to give them a wake up call and lead the Chiefs to an early first half lead. The Rams will come back a little in the second half, but ultimately I think the Chiefs offense will prove too much for the Rams.
My prediction: 35-31 Chiefs win.
Chiefs’ season record: 7-4
