Kansas City Chiefs as ‘Friday Night Lights’ characters

Patrick Mahomes as (early) J.D. McCoy
There’s nothing I hate more than linking Patrick Mahome with J.D. McCoy as you might remember him. The season 3 version of McCoy is the quiet, rule-following freshman who has never been allowed to have any semblance of fun ever. The season 4 version is a douchebag of the worst kind—a boy who shoots random things with a paintball gun as his friend drives along.
So I’ve already clarified this above, but Patrick Mahomes is EARLY J.D. McCoy. He’s the phenom who was forced to sit for a while before getting the chance to play, but his talents are undeniably better than what the team has had in years. He can make all the throws and comes into the league with sky-high expectations.
McCoy was gracing the covers of magazines as a 14-year-old, and it wouldn’t surprise anyone if Mahomes achieved the same. He was a star performer in every sport in high school who has more natural ability than nearly everyone else around him, yet he was patient and waited his turn.
Let’s hope Mahomes never finds a Season 4 version of himself.
