Raymond Davison, LB, California

Davison plays all over the place, which the Chiefs like. He can rush the passer occasionally, but mostly contributes as a run stopper and pass defender. He looks athletic, but seems to rely on it heavily. He looks out of place sometimes and gets burned for it. Luckily for him, he has enough speed to catch guys that get a bit of a step on him.

Chance of making the roster: Poor

Davison is not very strong and does not have great awareness on the field. Like I stated before, he can get lost relatively easily, his athleticism can’t make up for that in the National Football League. While I can see the positives, I am not high on Raymond Davison. I think it would take a lot to make him an NFL Linebacker.

Dee Liner, DL, Arkansas State

With a name like Dee Liner, where did you think he would play? Liner is an interesting player due to his size. At 6’2 and 337 pounds, who is going to be able to easily move a guy like that? I have heard whispers from reporters that this guy’s size is for real and he plays like it. That being said, the reporters loved Bobby Sippio who was a big deal on the series “Hard Knocks.” Sippio did not make the roster, proving that we know very little. Liner, however, could make the team due to the opening of a depth spot with the departure of Rakeem Nunez-Roches.

Chance of making the roster: Fair

If Liner can outperform Jarvis Jenkins, look out. Liner may be in prime position to take doubters by surprise and make this roster. With tremendous size, Dee Liner could be a nice asset to bring in as a rotational player.

Jimmy Murray, OL, Holy Cross

Murray is an interesting prospect. Coming from Holy Cross, one does not expect him to have played against the highest level of competition. However, it’s easy to see what the Chiefs like about him. He has a quick first step and has a good initial punch. I could see how speed rushers would cause trouble if he missed, because he is not polished in recovery, at all.

Chance of making the roster: Poor

Another practice squad candidate. Murray is definitely a work in progress. He flashes some good stuff, but in order to make it in the NFL, one must be serviceable in every facet of blocking. Murray just isn’t.
