5 Kansas City Chiefs on the roster bubble after the 2018 NFL Draft
S Eric Murray
Kansas City’s secondary got interesting this offseason. The Chiefs released Ron Parker before free agency got underway. The Chiefs later signed veteran Robert Golden from the Steelers, who provided depth in Pittsburgh for six years while seeing 12 starts in the last three years. Then, the Chiefs drafted Armani Watts from Texas A&M. Add in the fact that Eric Berry will be returning from injury.
It is a given that Berry will start. But who starts beside him is wide open for competition. Although Eric Murray was a draft pick from 2016, just two years ago, it could be an uphill battle for him in terms of making the team for 2018.
Daniel Sorensen and Golden are likely to provide depth. But they also have more experience as starters than Murray. As a four-year starter at Texas A&M, Watts could challenge some of the veterans for the open starting spot.
