Jaylen Samuels of NC State is a hard prospect to categorize. As you can see by his results above he was listed as a tight end at the NFL combine but that doesn’t really define Samuels as a player. Samuels is the epitome of a “jack of all trades” player. He was a combination of HB/FB/H-back/TE/slot WR for NC State. For some teams the fact that Samuels doesn’t have one position where he fits the typical NFL mold may scare them away. However, I think we can all agree that a team coached by Andy Reid could absolutely find a role for a player like Samuels.

Think about it. The Chiefs don’t currently have a fullback anymore with Anthony Sherman hitting free agency. They also don’t have a proven and reliable number two tight end. Jaylen Samuels could help fill both of those needs. Plus he could occasionally even get a few carries out of the backfield to help keep Kareem Hunt fresh. Here’s a tweet from Pro Football Focus that shows what kind of a weapon he can be out of the slot.

If you want to see what all he can do check out this Tweet thread from just one game.

I’m a huge fan of Samuels and I am 100% convinced that there might not be a better head coach to get the most out of his abilities than Andy Reid. If the Chiefs were to spend a mid round pick on Samuels I think it could be an absolute home run of a pick.

Next up, an offensive lineman I REALLY want.
