Pick: 5
Team: Tennessee Titans
Selection: Mike Williams, WR, Clemson

It’s time for the Titans to give Marcus Mariota some weapons on offense. The team has a lot of holes on defense but when you invest a top pick in a quarterback, surrounding him with protection and weapons has to be the priority. They start getting him weapons in the first round this year when they select Mike Williams with the fifth overall pick. Williams is a tall, talented wide receiver from the University of Clemson.

He’s got a large wing span with hands like catchers mitts. He makes catches in traffic like most receivers make in the open field. He bailed out Deshaun Watson more times than I can count with balls that should have never been thrown yet somehow he came down with it. He didn’t have a large route tree at Clemson, but ran the routes he did with crisp sharp cuts for a man his size.

He does come with injury concerns involving a broken neck in 2015, but he took some monster hits last season and didn’t miss a beat. He’ll need to add some muscle to get better at shedding press coverage and he’ll need to hit the books to study complicated NFL routes. The health you can’t control, but he has the work ethic to add the muscle and hit the books to be the best he can be. If he stays healthy, his best could make him a top five wide receiver in the league in just a couple years. [Britt Zank]
