Pick: 4
Team: Jacksonville Jaguars
Selection: Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford

This offseason continues the complete reinvention of the Jacksonville Jaguars defense. The secondary brought in Barry Church, safety for the Dallas Cowboys, and A.J. Bouye, cornerback from the Houston Texans. Turning their attention to the defensive line, the team released Sen’Derrick Marks, Roy Miller, Jared Odrick and traded Chris Smith. Tyson Alualu remains a free agent. In short, it’s a lot of turnover.

On the plus side, they added former Arizona Cardinals DE Calais Campbell to anchor one side and will enjoy the further development of Dante Fowler on the other side. Still those pieces aren’t enough to skip over the obvious talents of Solomon Thomas here at No. 4 overall. There’s a reason the Stanford product would be considered as a top overall choice if not for the presence of Myles Garrett, as his size/speed/strength combination wreaks havoc on opposing linemen.

Thomas had 61 total tackles last year, including 14 for a loss to go with 8 sacks for Stanford. He would give another strong disruptive end to rotate with Fowler and Campbell and keep things fresh and offenses hurried. [Matt Conner]
